Purpose
The Birthwork Institute™ conducts periodic audits of Certified Lactation Support Specialist™ (CLSS™) certificants to ensure the ongoing integrity and alignment of the program with the standards defined by Birthwork Institute™. These audits verify that new and renewing certificants continue to meet the eligibility, ethical, and professional requirements established by the CLSS™ certification program.
Scope
This policy applies to all individuals who hold or are seeking to renew the CLSS™ credential. Each year, a random selection of approximately five percent (5%) of certificants, both newly certified and renewing, may be invited to participate in an audit process.
Audit Process
Selected certificants will be notified by email and provided with clear instructions on how to submit documentation for review. Examples of documentation may include verification of continuing education activities, proof of current practice, or other information required to confirm continued compliance with CLSS™ eligibility and recertification criteria.
The audit process is designed to be straightforward and supportive. Birthwork Institute™ staff are available to answer questions and help certificants understand the documentation requirements.
Non-Compliance
If an audit reveals missing or incomplete documentation, certificants will be notified and given an opportunity to correct or clarify the issue within ten (10) business days. Failure to provide requested information may affect certification status.
Confidentiality
All audit-related information is treated as confidential and used solely for the purpose of verifying compliance with program requirements.
Commitment to Fairness
Consistent with the Birthwork Institute™ Fairness, Impartiality, and Non-Discrimination Policy, all audits are conducted equitably and without bias. The selection process is random, and documentation is reviewed using the same criteria for all certificants.
Program Flexibility
Birthwork Institute™ reserves the right to adjust the audit process, selection percentage, or documentation requirements as the certification program evolves. Any changes will be implemented transparently and communicated clearly to certificants.
